Pushpin Sloped Driveway (down) with basement garage
by Jonesi 08-17-2006, 05:12 PM

Place driveway and foundation as shown (7x9)

Delete the inside of the foundation (as shown) leaving a 1x1 strip all the way around except for the front

Place extension piece in the foundation edging

Add two foundation size guide walls for later

Turn on the cheat boolprop constrainfloorelevation false

Level down, use the lower terrain tool and dig a 1x1 hole into the extension piece that is 12 clicks deep

Drag from the lowered 1x1 square to fill/level inside the foundation piece and level the first two rows of the driveway (as shown)

You may notice that the top of the foundation has warped. Use the level terrian tool and drag it from one guide foundation piece to the other, diagonally across so that the entire foundation area is covered.

Now it should be level

Now we're going to create our sloped driveway.

Lower the first row (along the red line) on the join (blue dot) by 10 clicks each, the whole way across

Next do the next row, but lower 8 clicks for each dot

Same again, but 6 clicks down for each dot on this row.

Then lower by 4 clicks for the next row

And finally, the last row by 2 clicks on each dot

You should now see something resembling below, notice how the driveway still appears to be straight and "floating" above the sloped terrain?

To fix this use your design tool

Using the design tool, click on the driveway and recolour it, you'll now notice the driveway appears sloped

Add a wall across the beginning of the extension piece (if you've lowered the terrain correctly by 12 clicks the wall should fit fine)

Add a garage door and floortiles on top - remove the guide wall foundations and turn off the cheat boolprop constrainfloorelevation true

You can now build your house attached

If the wall fits properly there should be no reason why the floortiles won't place. Try dragging the level terrain tool across the top of the foundation to level the grid then try the floortiles again. :o)

Why can't I place a foundation adjacent to the driveway. It says, "terrain not level" whenever I try.
